How we read it

What the statuses mean

Rising
Searches grew at least 10% on the week before. The best time to post.
Peaking
No longer growing, but still at least half of the 90-day high. Post soon.
Seasonal
Tied to a date, like Halloween. It grows until the day itself.
Fading
Past its peak. The dance stays up for people who still want it.

Where the data comes from

Each status comes from Google Trends: search interest in the trend's own search term over the past 90 days, in the US unless the row says Worldwide. Rising means last week's searches were at least 10% above the week before and the last few days are at least a quarter of the 90-day high; peaking means no longer growing but still at least half of the high; fading is everything else. Seasonal trends are tied to a date. Every row names the term, the region and the day we last checked it.

Where searches are too thin to draw a curve, the row says Editorial observation: that status is our own read of new uploads, not a measurement. Google Trends shows relative interest, not view counts, so no row claims a number of views.
